Hermes

Hermes gets a skill and one pre_tool_call hook in its config.yaml. Approve the hook once and it loads next session.

Install

Setup finds Hermes when hermes is on PATH.

Both the skill and the hook load next session. Hermes asks once to approve the hook: approve it, or start Hermes with --accept-hooks, HERMES_ACCEPT_HOOKS=1 or hooks_auto_accept: true.

Use it

Ask Hermes anything that needs the web, or be explicit with /jevlin <question>. /jevlin off, /jevlin on, /jevlin status and /jevlin tier <band> work as in every agent with the skill. Hermes runs Bash everywhere, Git Bash on Windows; its shell tool is in the terminal and coding toolsets. See Search from your agent.

What to know

Hermes may rewrite the file. When Hermes saves config.yaml it may drop Jevlin's markers and fold the command. The hook works either way, and uninstall removes an entry in either form that names this installation. Anything else, such as an entry you gave a timeout:, is left and reported with its line numbers.

The trace. The hook payload has no assistant text and no compaction state, so a Hermes search carries the hashed session, call and turn and nothing more.

No session hook. Hermes gives Jevlin a hook before a tool call and nothing at a session's start or end, so it starts no flush and no daily release check of its own; a search still starts a flush, and the release check runs from another agent's hooks or from jevlin upgrade. See Upgrading.

Known limits

• No assistant text in the trace, and no turn end. Hermes gives the hook neither, so the trajectory on the platform shows the searches and their ids only.

Remove

jevlin agents uninstall -client hermes

Removes the skill and the hook entry, with any key left empty above it. See Removing and coming back.
